About Us

In the beginning…

This picture was taken many years ago when our tech, Lee Stoll, climbed polls as a cable splicer for the Washington Air National Guard. Lee performed his trade during periodic active duty on Air Force bases in various locations, including Korea, Okinawa, California, and Oregon, and worked his way up to Master Sergeant. Later, he worked as a cable splicer for PacBell in the Seattle Area. He became a residential installer in 1973 and worked for PacBell for 10 years.

When he and his family moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1979, he went back to cable splicing, working for Cascade Cable until 1983. That was the year that deregulation of the phone companies happened. What that meant is that anyone could sell phones, not just the phone service providers (like PacBell and AT&T). Lee started his own phone installation company, Independent Telephone Systems (ITS). He became a Toshiba dealer and serviced business customers in Central Washington, traveling as far north as Tenasket and as far south as the TriCities and Walla Walla. He sold ITS in 1994 and returned to his hometown of Edmonds, WA.

A new company…

After moving back to the Seattle area, Lee started Westar Telephone Service to service customers who wanted up-to-date phone systems, but without the cost of a brand-new phone system. He sold refurbished Avaya/Lucent/AT&T, Norstar, and Toshiba phone systems. He soon added telephone, data, and TV cabling to his offerings. A lot has changed in the last 20 years when it comes to phone systems and technology. Westar has had to change along with it.

Today…

We still sell and service legacy Avaya/Lucent/AT&T, ESI, Norstar, and Toshiba phone systems, but we also sell phone hosting services. Phone hosting services have a lot of real nice features, including unified messaging (voicemail messages are sent to your email), call forwarding to cell phones, and call tracking of your incoming calls. Need a Wi-Fi router, extender, cabling for surveillance cameras? We can do that too!
